Bad smells are just as important as good ones. Bad smells inform us of possible dangers and things to avoid. They tell us if our food has spoiled or if there is a fire nearby. Just like in reality, bad smells are important in VR too. One application of bad smells in VR is in treating PTSD. OVR Technology works with Brave Minds to create VR bad smells that could be found in a warzone as a tool for treating veterans with PTSD. These bad smells trigger memories and allow veterans to process their trauma in safe spaces.
OVR doesn’t just make bad smells for VR. They make good smells too that are targeted for more relaxing VR experiences; like smelling a rose or a waterfall.
