Currently, sight dominates the metaverse. But great strides are being made to incorporate sound, smell, touch, taste, and even movement into the virtual reality experience.
While the sound may be further along in the development process the other senses are still in the beginning phases. The smell may be the next sense that we're most capable of bringing to the metaverse. OVR Technology is already doing this. They’ve developed attachments for VR headsets that allow wearers an even more realistic experience. It's mostly earthy and natural scents at the moment with plenty more being created in laboratories. Adding smell to VR opens up incredible opportunities for marketing. Touch, taste, and movement are also senses that may be coming to the metaverse.
